You abide in Jesus and Jesus abides in you.
When the last day comes, Jesus will return once again in Glory.
Those who have died will be resurrected and all believers will then be with the Lord forever.
You see, believing in the gospel of John, and believing specifically in Jesus is what it means to believe and to have faith. What the disciples got is what Thomas was missing. What Thomas needed is that moment of being with Jesus, of seeing him, and experiencing him. The rest of the disciples’ words to him that “they have seen the Lord” are not quite enough, Thomas needs that critical encounter. And I think if we are somewhat honest with ourselves that’s what we need too.
We are also utterly dependent upon God, the One who has promised time and time again- even and especially- through Jesus and his death and resurrection to always be with and for us.
What we see in the transfiguration is that it’s all about the Christ we actually get in Jesus rather than the one we wanted.
